The Wedding Ideas Awards 2014
Each year, the Wedding Ideas Awards celebrate the UK’s favourite wedding companies. They’re the UK’s most prestigious consumer awards for wedding suppliers, venues and services.
The finalists for each category are taken from an open, public vote, and the winners are then chosen by a second stage of votes from a team of industry judges, this year including the fabulous Alison Tinlin and the awesome Kat Williams.
The 2014 ceremony was held at Tower Bridge on Friday, and we were thrilled to attend as one of the five finalists in the Best Wedding Gift List category:
- John Lewis
- Not On The High Street
- Buy Our Honeymoon (yay!)
- Cancer Research
What a shortlist! From John Lewis, giants of the High Street with massive public awareness, hundreds of bricks-and-mortar stores and a marketing budget to match — to us: a tiny, independent online company. And everything in between!
The award for 2014 was won by Prezola, who’ve brought genuine innovation to the traditional household gift registry by partnering with a huge variety of brands and stores to offer a single point-of-sale for a stylish and diverse inventory. We’d like to offer them our sincere congratulations and very best wishes for their continued success.
Prezola are independent wedding list specialists — their wedding list service isn’t simply an aspect of a wider retail business — and it’s fantastic to see that get industry recognition in this way.
We’re in the same boat, but we’ve always maintained that we’re not trying to compete with wedding list services offering beautiful things for your home.
Ours is a service with a different market: couples who are actively seeking a meaningful alternative to the traditional gift registry. Couples whose biggest wish is instead to achieve the honeymoon of their dreams, with the love and support of their friends and family. We’re dedicated to serving that specific market and understanding its unique needs.
Obviously, we’d love to have won. Maybe one year we will — but more importantly for us as a niche supplier, we’re super-proud to have been finalists in our category for the past five consecutive years.
We simply couldn’t have been shortlisted each year alongside giant household names like this, without the active support of our lovely customers, and for that we’re phenomenally grateful. It’s an honour, truly.
So thank-you to the brilliant team at Wedding Ideas magazine for their continued support and another fantastic event. Many congratulations to all the winners in each category, and hugs-in-solidarity to all the other finalists who didn’t win this year.
